An eight-year-old shih-tzu has the most extraordinary walk the vet has ever seen, but the operation to fix the dog's spine will be extremely risky, presenting the owners with an agonising decision.

One of its rear legs is shattered and the vet has to perform reconstructive surgery to rebuild it. Chief, an eight-year-old Northern Inuit, dislocated its hip while chasing a fox. Noel thinks it needs hip-replacement surgery, but owner Nigel can't afford to pay for the operation.
