The River Kings

While struggling to keep the family farm afloat, Shawn is forced to leave his family behind and take a job as a deckhand for the Lazy Jane river boat; he falls into the Murray River, but is saved by a beautiful young woman.

Shawn finally settles into his role as a deckhand on the Lazy Jane when the engine blows while transporting a pregnant passenger, and he is forced to deliver the baby; meanwhile, Ned cleans himself up for the first time in 20 years.

Shawn finds nothing but a grave upon arriving home, so he looks for Mary, whose father gives him a job picking fruit; however, Mary's father eventually kicks him out and Shawn finds himself alone yet again.

Shawn is reunited with the Lazy Jane crew after learning the truth about his father; Shawn and Mary run away upriver, but must contend with a flood.
