The Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital or “The Pitt” is a place where emotions run high and ER doctors juggle personal afflictions and face the consequences of workplace politics. At the centre of it all is Dr. Michael “Robby” Rabinavitc, The Pitt’s hardened chief attendant who shows interns a thing or two about saving lives, all while surviving the heartbreak, exhaustion, and the overall craziness of a 15-hour emergency room shift.

The Pitt is a different series and is not a continuation of ER. The only connection the show has to ER is that some of the people behind it worked on ER, including creator R. Scott Gemmill and executive producers John Wells and Noah Wyle (also The Pitt's protagonist).
Sherri Crichton, the widow of ER creator Michael Crichton, sued Warner Bros. Television because, according to her, The Pitt was a revision of a planned sequel to the hit '90s medical drama that didn't get an approval from the Crichton estate.
A highly rated new medical series from Max, The Pitt is collectively praised as a rare medical drama that realistically depicts emergency medicine. Even real doctors are impressed with its accuracy, as reported by The New York Times.
A welcome news to fans, The Pitt was renewed for a second season in February 2025, about a month after the series premiere. Season 2 is scheduled to air in January 2026.
