★★★★★4/5
Sebastian Fitzek's Therapy presents a compelling narrative that intricately weaves psychological tension with emotional depth. The film masterfully explores the struggles of Viktor Larenz, a psychiatrist whose life spirals into chaos following the mysterious disappearance of his daughter, Josy. The performances are commendable, particularly from the lead, who captures the torment and desperation of a father seeking answers. The direction is tight, creating an atmosphere that oscillates between hope and despair, keeping viewers on edge. While the pacing may occasionally falter, the film ultimately delivers a thought-provoking experience that lingers long after the credits roll. The resolution, while shocking, invites deeper reflection on the nature of grief and guilt, making it a standout in the psychological thriller genre.

Sebastian Fitzek's Therapy tries to juggle a complex plot with deep emotional themes, but it doesn't always hit the mark. The story revolves around Viktor Larenz, a psychiatrist grappling with his daughter's disappearance, which is undeniably engaging. However, I found some plot points a bit convoluted, making it hard to fully connect with the characters. The performances are solid, especially from the mysterious woman who brings an unsettling energy to the film. The tone fluctuates between suspenseful and melodramatic, leaving me wanting a more consistent experience. While it has its moments of intrigue, the film felt like it could have benefited from a tighter script and clearer direction. For those who enjoy psychological thrillers, it might still be worth a watch, but don't expect a perfectly polished gem.
