Ellen and Ian are in Japan. They try to get friend-married at a Buddhist temple, visit the smallest gay bar in the world, and work at a rent-a-friend agency.

Ellen and Ian head to Rio for Carnival, where they find out what it is like for the LGBTQ community living somewhere with the highest LGBTQ murder rate in the world.

Ellen and Ian visit Jamaica, which has a reputation for intolerance, to work out through various interviews where the discrimination emanates from and how people are affected by a culture of fear and disapproval.

Ian and Ellen cross America to gain a deeper understanding of the divide between religion and the goal of equal rights for all citizens regardless of sexuality or gender.
