Mim celebrates her 70th birthday by writing a bucket list, so she drags her daughter Fran on a trip they never had. While Fran is making an effort, she discovers that new starts and openness are easier said than done.

Mim plans to use the contents of a time capsule buried in Cambridge to fund their bucket-list expedition. Fran is excited that a famous historian works at the college, who knows a secret about Mim.

Mim and Fran try to help on a trip to cousin Pat's when Gemma reveals that she doesn't want to go through with her wedding, the night before she's due to be married.

Mim reveals a shocking deception which prompts Fran to end their trip. With time running out, Mim decides to tell Fran the biggest secret of all.
