Foxtel Go Review

All you need to know about this handy little app that’s jam packed full of goodness!

Foxtel subscribers can now use the Foxtel Go app for free. This new app provides high quality video streaming.  Subscribers can use it to watch different live TV channels and a chosen line up of catch up programs using an iPad or other qualified mobile devices such as a PC, Mac, Iphone, Samsung Galaxy, select Tablets and more.

Foxtel Go App

One of the best features of the Foxtel Go app, recently renamed the Foxtel App, is its layout and design. Its interface has a clean look with stylish, descriptive text and a “tile” interface similar to the Windows 8 that contains lots of images.

It also has a home menu with an overview of current available programs, a section dedicated entirely to live TV, and another section featuring catch up TV that classifies programs according to the newest, most popular, genre, channels, and more. You can also use the search box in the top right corner of the app to look for any programs that you like.

Users need to sign in with their Foxtel online username and password to use the Foxtel Go app. Foxtel customers can use a single account to log on to two separate iPads simultaneously. Going to its downside, customers must have a regular cable or satellite Foxtel home subscription to use the Go app, and once they have a subscription, they can only remove/add one iPad from a Foxtel Go account per month.

Streaming with Foxtel Go video is un-metered with Telstra BigPond home broadband services. With other internet service providers this will be offset against your data plan and will vary depending if you have WiFi or 3G/4G and the internet speed of your network carrier at the time. Video quality is excellent on both Wi-Fi and 3G/4G connections, so the amount of data it uses is put to good use. Users will need to wait several seconds for the video to buffer, to get the best quality in both live and catch-up TV streams.

Subscribers can only watch content from the Foxtel packages they are signed on for, so be sure to choose the plan that meets your mobile entertainment needs. Currently the service offers 60 live TV channels and growing.  In addition to a good selection of Drama, News, Kids, Documentary, Entertainment, Lifestyle and Music channels, Foxtel Go can access a variety of their most popular Sports channels such as ESPN, Fox Sports 1-5, as well as Footy Play.

If you grab the Sports Combo Pack, you can stream all the big events this year with your Foxtel Go connection. This will include but not be limited to the Asian Cup with the Socceroos, the Cricket World Cup to be hosted jointly by Australia and New Zealand, V8 Supercars Motor Racing, NBA playoffs, the always exciting NRL Premiership and equally intense AFL Premiership with all the key fixtures in each, the 20th edition of Super Rugby, as well as the much anticipated 2015 Rugby World Cup with the Wallabies.
