How to watch the 2024 WTA Tennis Live in Australia

Live streaming tennis

The WTA is the top-tier of women’s tennis, operating on a global tour throughout most of the calendar year. Tournaments are dotted around all four corners of the globe, stopping by the four obligatory Grand Slams and ending in the illustrious WTA Finals tournament.

The season started in late December of 2023 with the United Cup in Sydney, and will conclude with the WTA Finals in October of 2024. With over 55 competitions on this season’s circuit, there’s seldom a week without tennis, and this guide will help you find the dates and broadcasters for the next WTA event that’s available to watch in Australia.

How to watch the WTA Tour live in Australia

The 2024 Australian broadcast rights for the WTA Tour are distributed between Stan Sport, and their free to air partner channel nine, and the beIN Sports.

The WTA TV rights for every Australian tournament and the four Grand Slams (the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open) are exclusive to Stan Sport, and will be simulcast on free to air Channel Nine. And while the Channel Nine coverage of the four majors and Australian tournaments is not as complete as what’s available to Stan subscribers, it does include select on-demand replays of these same events on 9Now.

For comparison, the broadcast rights for every non-major and WTA tournament held outside of Australia belong exclusively to beIN Sports, and as such are available to stream via the beIN Sportsonline platform.

The list of live tennis fixtures on beIN Sports include the WTA Finals, as well as the remaining WTA 1000, WTA 500 and WTA 250 tournaments. Among the hotly contested competitions in this grouping includes the Dubai Tennis Championships, the Madrid Open, Miami Open, and the affectionately named ‘fifth slam’, Indian Wells.

In Australia, tennis fans can watch beIN Sports and their programming by signing onto beIN Sports directly and paying a relatively small monthly fee, or via their current 7-day free trial offering for new customers.

What people are asking about the WTA?

What does WTA stand for?

The WTA stands for Women’s Tennis Association. It was founded in 1973 by the ‘original nine’ (including Billie Jean King, Julie Heldman, and Valerie Ziegenfuss) who wanted the standard of women’s tennis to be treated the same as the men’s.

Is WTA the same as ATP?

Almost identical! The WTA is for women and the ATP is for men. The two organisations crossover in some tournaments and some are exclusive to either competition.

Who are the legends of the WTA?

Serena Williams is the name that comes to mind when considering legendary status in the WTA. While she retired in 2022, her sister, Venus Williams is still an active part of the tour. Other iconic players include Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert, and Steffi Graf.
