After the dramatisation of the tragic standoff between the FBI, ATF, and the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas in the limited series Waco, Showtime releases the sequel Waco: The Aftermath. As the title suggests, the new miniseries explores the aftermath of the siege that shocked the country, claiming the lives of four federal agents and 82 Branch Davidians.
The series is based on “A Place Called Waco: A Survivor’s Story” by David Thibodeau and Leon Whiteson. Michael Shannon (George & Tammy) reprises his role as FBI agent Gary Noesner.
Here’s everything to know about the new Waco miniseries, including release date and where to watch online.

Waco: The Aftermath preview
In 2018, Showtime released the miniseries Waco, dramatising the devastating siege between federal agents and the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas.
With the siege ending in a harrowing tragedy, resulting in the deaths of four ATF agents and 82 Branch Davidians, Waco: The Aftermath examines the repercussions of the siege. The series also portrays the trials of Branch Davidians members who survived the catastrophe.
The consequences of the FBI standoff at the Brand Davidian compound also run deep, reverberating through history and helping radicalise Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols, the perpetrators of the Oklahoma City bombing. The Waco siege is also cited to be behind the rise of the modern day American militia movement.
Branch Davidians are an apocalyptic cult. Led by David Koresh, they were headquartered at Mount Carmel Center ranch in Texas. ATF obtained a search warrant for the compound after suspicions of the storing illegal weapons, as well as arrest warrants for Koresh and several of the group’s members.
Inadvertently tipped off about the raid, the members armed themselves as federal agents arrived, resulting in an intense gunfight. The violence then turned into a siege that lasted 51 days, ending in massive fires.
