What is the plot of The Penguin TV show?
Just one week following the events of The Batman, Gotham City’s criminal underworld is in disarray after the death of crime boss Carmine Falcone. The power vacuum left by Falcone’s murder has gone to create a violent contest for control fought between his chief lieutenant Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot / Penguin (Farrell) and his daughter Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti).
Their battle for control and power will be further complicated by rival mob boss Salvatore Maroni (Clancy Brown). In The Batman film, his operation ended after an informant ratted him out; the informant turned out to be Falcone. His return to the criminal underworld scene signifies more trouble with the mob boss possibly attempting to re-establish his dominance.
With the Penguin facing many adversaries, not to mention Batman himself, it will be interesting to see the harrowing things he will pull off to secure his place and catapult himself as a vicious crime boss.
The Penguin is developed by Lauren LeFranc based on the DC comics character created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane. LeFranc wrote the series and serves as the showrunner.
The Batman director Matt Reeves is also on board as one of its executive producers, alongside LeFranc, Farrell, Dylan Clark, Daniel Pipski, Adam Kassan, Craig Zobel and Bill Carraro.
