The Girls on the Bus is a new political drama based on Amy Chozick’s 2018 memoir ‘Chasing Hillary’. It centres on four female journalists and their unforgettable journey of following presidential candidates during their campaigns, inspired by Chozick’s experiences as a political reporter on the campaign bus.
Surprisingly, despite their differing reporting styles and personalities, they find a common ground for their friendship to thrive on. Together, they watch the fiercest drama in town – the battle for the presidency.

This new series from Max will become available in Australia through BINGE, Foxtel, and Foxtel Now. As of this writing, only the aforementioned services have been confirmed to broadcast episodes.
Netflix was initially involved with adopting Chozick’s memoir in 2019, however, the streamer dropped the series two years later, moving over to The CW.
That didn’t stick, but by 2022 it found its network, HBO Max, which officially commissioned the series.

This latest drama from the US premieres with two episodes on 14 March on BINGE, with a new episode streaming weekly. Season 1 will consist of 10 episodes.
On Foxtel, it arrives a few days later on 17 March on Showcase, then on demand on Foxtel Now. New episodes also roll out weekly.

What is the plot of The Girls on the Bus?
Sadie McCarthy (Melissa Benoist) is a journalist who’s still hung up on a bygone era of campaign reporting. Determined to cover a presidential candidate for a reputable newspaper, she has dedicated her whole life to accomplish her most high-stakes career goal yet.
Entering the cutthroat world of political campaigning, she meets three other female journalists. While supporting the campaigns of different candidates, making them competitors vying for one thing, they find themselves bound by friendship and come across love along the way.
What’s more, getting a front-row seat to all the campaign-related drama also gives the girls an inside scoop on every scandal, forcing them to see the presidential candidates in a new light.
Created by Chozick and Julie Plec, The Girls on the Bus stars Benoist, who also produced the series through her Berlanti Productions. Chozick and Plec are executive producers alongside Rina Mimoun, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, and Marcos Siega.
