What is Sweetpea TV show about?

Sweetpea follows Rhiannon Lewis (Ella Purnell), a girl sick of being treated like she’s invisible. She doesn’t make much of an impression and for years she suffered because of it.

She craves respect and appreciation, but people don’t treat her seriously, always overlooked by her boss, by her boyfriend, and basically by everyone who just walks past her in the street without bothering a second glance.

Worse, her father is sick and dying. So when an incident leaves her enraged, Rhiannon finally snaps. But instead of running scared, her violent act only emboldens her, pushing her to reinvent herself and be someone worthy of everyone’s attention.

Enjoying her newfound identity, she decides to settle unresolved personal matters, starting with her high school bully. Question is, how far will she go to atone for all her indecisions and lack of self-assertion?

The series is based on CJ Skuse’s book of the same and adapted for television by Kirstie Swain. Krissie Ducker, Laura Jayne Tunbridge, and Selina Lim also served as writers with Ella Jones directing.
