Making its Australian premiere is the gripping documentary feature that follows Ukrainian artists as they join the Ukrainian defense amidst Russia’s mortifying invasion. With the ongoing war leaving widespread destruction in its wake, these artists choose to persist in the darkness by creating porcelain figures.

Porcelain War release date in Australia

Porcelain War will be streaming in Australia from Monday, 24 February 2025 exclusively on DocPlay. The documentary initially premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on 20 January 2024. It later had a wider release in the United States on 22 November 2024.

The documentary film follows Ukrainian artists Slava Leontyev, Anya Stasenko, and Andrey Stefanov. In their country’s war against its invader Russia, they joined the Ukrainian defense.

As violence and destruction rage on, Slava and Anya create porcelain figures in their courageous efforts to underscore art as their beacon of hope and resistance. Choosing to stay behind to defend their country, they also continue their passion for finding beauty amidst the devastating wreck.

Slava Leontyev co-wrote and co-directed the documentary film alongside Brendan Bellomo. Aniela Sidorska and Paula DuPré Pesmen are also credited as writers.
