A television reboot of the Percy Jackson novel series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, has been confirmed to premiere in December. Author Rick Riordan serves as creator alongside The Old Man co-creator Jonathan E. Steinberg.
The announcement of the popular book series being adapted for TV is welcome news for fans, especially with 20th Century Fox’s film series ending after the second movie Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. Despite the franchise initially planned to match the five novel series, no movies were further produced.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV series plot
Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ first season is based on the first book in the series, “The Lightning Thief”. It follows the titular character, a 12-year-old demigod who’s unaware of his true origins and powers.
But as he’s just starting to come to terms with his identity and supernatural abilities, the god of sky and thunder Zeus accuses him of stealing his thunderbolt.
As a world-ending war is most likely to happen without it, Percy takes it upon himself to retrieve it and bring back the peace in a world he didn’t know exist in the first place.
Despite his qualms and fear, and the fact that he’s just a kid, he strives to embrace his destiny with the help of his mother, Sally, his best friend, Grover, and Athena’s daughter Annabeth Chase.
The new series is directed by James Bobin, Anders Engström, and Jet Wilkinson. The late actor Lance Reddick, best known for his role as Charon in the John Wick movies, played the role of Zeus. This marks his final television appearance, following his death in March 2023.
