What is the plot of Yellowjackets Season 3?
[For those who haven’t seen Yellowjackets Season 2, this article contains some spoilers.]
In 1996, a team of high-school girls soccer players travelled for a national tournament, only for their plane to crash deep in the Canadian wilderness. Stuck for nineteen months, the series chronicles the extreme measures they went to stay alive and how its consequences have caught up to them in their adult lives.
Returning for a third season, it continues to follow two timelines as more troubling secrets are revealed. While we’ve discovered plenty about their time isolated in the wilds, there are more mysteries left to uncover. Season 3 is sure to give us more details about what really went down after that fateful plane crash and how the events that followed changed their lives forever.
More importantly, Season 3 will continue after the shocking Season 2 finale when Nat (Juliette Lewis) was accidentally killed by Misty (Christina Ricci). It was also during the final episode that we saw the girls’ cabin burning, with Coach Ben (Steven Krueger) setting the place ablaze, repulsed by how these young girls have lost their minds. There’s also still the mystery that someone is still out there to get them, someone who knows what their younger selves did in the wilderness to survive.
“The only way to be truly safe is to be the only one left”, said Melanie Lynskey’s character Shauna in the Season 3 trailer. It would seem that their nightmarish time stuck in the wilds are now going full throttle in catching up with them.

Yellowjackets features an ensemble cast that includes Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, and Sammi Hanratty as the teenagers who survived a plane crash, while Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Christina Ricci, and Juliette Lewis portray their adult counterparts.
Lewis, however, left the series after her character’s death in the second season. Elijah Wood continues his recurring role as Walter Tattersall, a citizen detective helping Misty. Joining the cast in guest roles this season are Hilary Swank, Joel McHale, and Ashley Sutton with their roles still undisclosed.
Also returning as main cast members are Steven Krueger as Coach Ben Scott, Warren Kole as adult Jeff Sadeck, Simone Kessell and Courtney Eaton as the adult and teenage Charlotte “Lottie” Matthews, Lauren Ambrose and Liv Hewson as the adult and teenage Vanessa Palmer, Kevin Alves as the teenage Travis Martinez, and Sarah Desjardins as Callie Sadecki.
Jackie Taylor (Ella Purnell) will also appear in Season 3 as a vision haunting Shauna, who’s also hiding another secret in the present day timeline as the one behind the killing of Adam Martin (Peter Gadiot). Jane Widdop has also played the role of Laura Lee while Rekha Sharma played reporter Jessica Roberts.
