How to watch We Own This City TV series in Australia

We Own This City TV Series

Based on the non-fiction book by Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton, We Own This City chronicles the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force and the insidious corruption that leads to its demise. Created to get rid of guns and violent criminals off the streets, the task force abused their authority by skimming from the drug busts they made.

They also schemed to rob people and violate their rights by conducting baseless searches, planting fake evidence, and stealing thousands worth of cash found in private residences. You can find out how and when to watch episodes of the show in Australia using this guide.

We Own This City TV show preview

In this upcoming series, Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, The Punisher) stars as Sgt. Wayne Jenkins, the leader of the Gun Trace Task Force in the Baltimore Police Department. Jenkins is perhaps the central figure in the sprawling federal corruption case against the Gun Trace Task Force in 2018.

The book’s TV adaptation further delves into the corruption of the officers involved and their eventual trial that shook the American city, harming the judicial foundation it was based on. For years, Jenkins and his team had been lauded as central figures in the city’s fight against crime and drugs. However, policies on drug prohibition and mass arrest overshadowed and trampled down the actual police work, leading to abuse of power and injustice.

The show is created and written by The Wire’s David Simon and George Pelecanos and directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green (Joe Bell, King Richard). Green is also co-executive producer alongside Nina Kostroff Noble, Ed Burns and Kary Antholis. Joining Jon Bernthal are Wunmi Mosaku as Nicole Steele, a lawyer for the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice and Jamie Hector as Sean M. Suiter, a Baltimore city homicide detective who testified before a federal grand jury. Check out the complete cast and their characters below.
