Under the Banner of Heaven Australia preview
Under the Banner of Heaven is a limited series that is inspired by the real-life events that led to the shocking murder of an LDS (the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) woman, Brenda Wright Lafferty and her baby daughter, Erica, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Through the eyes of Detective Jeb Pyre, viewers are taken on a journey as the devout detective’s faith is tested when he investigates the inner workings of the once admired Lafferty family and uncovers buried truths about the origins of the Mormon church.
Putting Pyre at odds with his own church leaders, he investigates events and the mystery behind the brutal killings that sparks a search for missing Lafferty brothers, Ron and Dan. Ultimately, he discovers the violent consequences of absolute and unyielding personal faith and Brenda’s attempt to reconcile with some of the Lafferty family’s most extreme members.
The ongoing investigation intensifies as evidence points squarely toward fundamentalist Mormonism and goes as far as discovering a list of names that Brenda’s killers plan to target next, leading them on an interstate manhunt in hopes to catch the lead suspect.
