Torn Hearts, the 2022 American horror movie directed by Brea Grant and written by Rachel Koller Croft, follows the story of Leigh (Alexxis Lemire) and Jordan (Abby Quinn), the country music duo behind the Nashville band “Torn Hearts”. Fuelled by their ambition to further their career, they embark on a twisted journey of terror after seeking out their idol, Harper Dutch (Katey Sagal), to record a song with her.
But the quest to achieve their dreams takes a dark turn as they end up in a worn-out private mansion where they must confront horrors beyond their imagination.
What’s in this Guide?
Torn Hearts movie preview
A tragic tale of friendship and ambition that turns into a twisted series of mental and physical torment. Set in Nashville’s country music scene, Torn Hearts tells the story of two childhood friends, a struggling country music duo trying to make it big in Nashville.
During a chance encounter, they meet Caleb, a famous country music star who is searching for an opening act for an upcoming tour. After a night of drinking, Jordan ends up in Caleb’s home and discovers a framed photo of Harper Dutch, the other half of the legendary country music duo, The Dutchess Sisters, who became a recluse after her sister, Hope Dutch, committed suicide.
In hopes of getting Harper’s advice on how to succeed in the music industry, Jordan persuades Caleb to give her Harper’s address. Upon meeting Harper at her decaying private mansion, they quickly realise she has a volatile temper instigated by a drinking problem. They soon find themselves drawn into her manipulative and divisive mind games.
The film explores the complicated relationships between the three women and how their pursuit of fame and success shapes their decisions. Leigh and Jordan’s passion for music and their bond are put to the test as they face terrifying events that force them to do the unthinkable in order to achieve their dream.
As such, the movie is a cautionary tale of the high price of fame and ambition, portraying how success can tear apart even the closest of friendships and leave a trail of destruction.
