The Summer I Turned Pretty TV show preview
During an annual summer vacation in the fictional beach town of Cousins Beach, 16-year-old Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung) finds herself entangled in a love triangle between two brothers, Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).
It was also during this summer when Belly experiences her first love, leading to her first heartbreak. What could’ve been her perfect summer becomes the time of her life when her relationships stop being simple.
In Season 2, we’ll see Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah once again navigate the twists and turns of love, friendship, and family. The new season of the series is likely to be adapted from the second book, It’s Not Summer Without You, picking up where the first season finale left off. However, it’s also worth noting that the show isn’t always going to follow the book’s storylines.
While Season 1 ended with Belly and Conrad’s first kiss, it’s still hard to feel confident about the future of their relationship, especially since the new chapter of their story brings an entirely new dynamic for these characters. The return of Susannah’s cancer, Conrad and Jeremiah’s mother, is also bound to create a rift between the three long-time friends.
This coming-of-age story is based on the novel of the same name by author Jenny Han, who also wrote other popular young adult romance novels To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, P.S. I Still Love You, and Always and Forever, Lara Jean. All three novels have been adapted for films on Netflix.
