Imagine a world where teenage girls develop the immense power to generate electricity from their own hands. No tricks, no mind-bending tech, just a natural progression allowing matriarchy to challenge the conventional order of things. Based on Naomi Alderman’s bestseller novel, The Power, Amazon presents a new sci-fi drama that will explore a totally different world where an established power balance gets a dramatic reversal.

The Power TV series preview
In a story that’s designed to flip the power dynamic between men and women upside down, we’re introduced to a world-changing transformation. All of a sudden, young women from across the globe develop the ability to electrocute people at will, giving them never-before-seen strength, freedom, and fearlessness.
As this power evolves from specialised muscles that girls just developed out of nowhere, their capacity to produce powerful electric jolts is a twist of nature that nobody ever saw coming. Soon, the younger girls also discover how to awaken the ‘power’ in older women, so that every woman in the world can unleash a force so liberating and formidable it creates an entirely new society.
Developed by Alderman herself, alongside Raelle Tucker and Sarah Quintrell, The Power focuses on remarkable characters from London to Seattle and Nigeria to Eastern Europe as they use their power to forge a new path and navigate their rapidly changing world. Naomi Alderman also serves as one of the executive producers, alongside Jane Featherstone, Naomi de Pear, Claire Wilson, and Raelle Tucker.
