There is nothing more engaging to an audience than a true story being played out on screen, especially murder cases. The original, horrifying Coastal Path Murders remained unsolved until reopened almost a decade later. With the serial killer caught and the end to one of the most notorious unsolved crimes found, it was only a matter of time before it became a television series.
While The Pembrokeshire Murders Netflix doesn’t exist, you can stream it on BritBox. Still, take a look at what the show is all about before you commit.
The Pembrokeshire Murders preview
While not a documentary, The Pembrokeshire Murders remains a murder mystery based on a true crime story. As was in real life, The Pembrokeshire Murders started as an investigation into murders occurring between 2006 and 2011.
As it happens, the newly promoted detective superintendent reopens two unsolved murder cases from the 1980s. DCS Steve Wilkins (Luke Evans) has a lot to prove, so using forensic methods, Steve’s team linked two unsolved murders, also known as the coastal path murders, and the string of burglaries to the murders being investigated.
Steve’s team, however, needs to procure more evidence to hold the notorious serial killer, John Cooper (Keith Allen), before he can escape a life in prison. They happen to do so by watching an episode of the show Bullseye, which eventually led to John Cooper being labelled the Bullseye killer.
Initially, the killer, played by Keith Allen, tries to pin the blame on his son, Oliver Ryan. But, forensic methods provide conclusive results leading to a murder mystery show and a true crime book based on the events. From a string of burglaries to resolved conflicts and mysteries, The Pembrokeshire Murders is a must-see for those who are fascinated by the true crime genre.
While it was released in Australia much later, The Pembrokeshire Murders was launched in North America on 11 January of 2021. All three episodes were released within days of each other. Here is a list of episodes and their availability in Australia.
