The Matrix Resurrections preview
Set sixty years after the events in The Matrix Revolutions, Neo is living a seemingly ordinary life as a video game developer. He’s also the creator of the game aptly called The Matrix based on his vague memories as Neo. Due to his tumultuous past (which he doesn’t even remember), he’s having a hard time identifying what’s real and what’s not, the line between fantasy and reality becoming fainter each day.
That is until a programmed version of Morpheus and a group of rebels wake him up from his contrived slumber and free him from a new version of the Matrix. Creating this new iteration is the program called The Analyst.
Holding Trinity captive, the program is also designed to study the human psyche, especially that of Neo and his exceptional powers as The One. With Neo and his memories back, he makes it his mission to free Trinity from The Matrix and end the machines’ decades-long reign over human consciousness.
While the Wachowskis had stated in the previous years that they had no intention of making another Matrix film after the trilogy ended in 2003, Lana Wachowski had a change of heart. In 2019, Warner Bros. made the official announcement with Lana Wachowski returning as sole director.
