What is the plot of The Last of Us?
Based on the famous and critically acclaimed video game developed by Naughty Dog for Playstation, The Last of Us takes place in a post-apocalyptic civilisation, 20 years after everything that comprises modern society destroyed.
The first game, which is the primary source material of the TV adaptation, follows Joel (Pedro Pascal) who is hired to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a fourteen-year-old girl, out of the oppressive quarantine zone. A supposedly small job turns into a brutal and heartbreaking journey for the duo as they depend on each other to survive amidst harrowing encounters and tragedies.
In The Last of Us Season 2, the events of the game’s sequel, “The Last Part II”, will be covered, introducing new characters, including Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), Jesse (Young Mazino), Dina (Isabela Merced), and Isaac Dixon (Jeffrey Wright). They join the original cast of The Last of Us, such as Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Anna Torv, Nick Offerman, Gabriel Luna, and Murray Bartlett. Ashley Johnson, Ellie’s voice in the video games, plays Anna, Ellie’s mom in the series.

One of HBO’s largest productions recently, it is a co-production between Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog produce.
Carolyn Strauss, best known for her work in some of HBO’s award-winning shows such as The Wire and The Sopranos, as well as Naughty Dog president Evan Wells, also serve as executive producer.
