There may be an abundant supply of adventure movies, but there’s something about go-to classics and their enduring appeal; one such classics are the Indiana Jones movies.
For many adventure fans out there, the franchise is an easy favourite. Starring Harrison Ford as the titular character, an archaeologist with a penchant for perilous but exhilarating adventures, Indiana Jones has since transformed into a legacy in the industry.
Continuing the franchise is the new Indiana Jones movie, Dial of Destiny, also starring Ford in his final portrayal of the legendary archaeologist.
For fans who want to watch previous Indiana Jones films before the final instalment hits streaming on 1 December, there are streaming services that offer all four movies on demand.

What are the Indiana Jones movies about?
In the first movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark, we’re introduced to Indiana Jones, an archaeologist who does his job so well he always ends up saving the world by foiling villainous schemes. Take the first ever film, for instance, when he stops a band of Nazis from dominating the world by making sure they don’t come into possession of a powerful religious relic.
While he may act all suave and fearless, finding and protecting valuable artifacts isn’t always easy, especially when afflicted with a snake phobia. Considering he’s mostly in caves and jungles, this is just outright unfortunate and inconvenient. Regardless, he swings it just like he always does and gets the job done.
Four movies have been made since Raiders of the Lost Ark: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Indiana Jones 5, which is set to premiere in Australia next month, is the final instalment in the Indiana Jones franchise.
The first film was based on a story by George Lucas and Philip Kaufman with Steven Spielberg joining the project as director. Spielberg went on to direct the subsequent movies (except Indiana Jones 5). Each Indiana Jones film starred a different main cast with Ford the franchise’s constant main major protagonist.
In Raiders of the Lost Ark, he works alongside his former girlfriend, Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen). In Temple of Doom, he shares his grand adventures with his love interest Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw) and 11-year-old sidekick Short Round (Ke Huy Quan).
In the Last Crusade, we meet Indiana Jones’ father, Henry Jones, Sr. (Sean Connery) and his old friend Sallah (John Rhys Davies). Together, they search for the elusive Holy Grail. Shia LaBeouf then stars as Mutt Williams in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Indiana’s son with Marion.

Indiana Jones cast
Harrison Ford has been the franchise’s main star since the first movie premiered in 1981. The fifth film, however, will be his final portrayal of the iconic character. With Ford departing the movie series, future Indiana Jones films remain unclear.
In addition to Ford, Rhys Davies also returns to reprise his role as Sallah in Indiana Jones 5, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Ethann Isidore, and Mads Mikkelsen joining the cast.
Spielberg won’t be returning as director, passing the torch to James Mangold. Composer John Williams, who has scored each adventure since the original in 1981, is also back for Indiana Jones 5’s film score.
