How to watch The Hunt For Raoul Moat in Australia
The Hunt For Raoul Moat, ITV’s gripping true crime drama, unfolds a series of shocking events that took place during Britain’s biggest manhunt. The mini-series delves into the authorities’ pursuit of Raoul Moat (Matt Stokoe), a violent killer who goes on a shooting spree after his release from prison.
After the harrowing violence he’s inflicted, he goes on the run for more than a week. The resulting search became the biggest manhunt in the history of British policing.
Led by an exceptional cast, the drama focuses on the impact of Moat’s crimes on his innocent victims and the brave police officers who put their lives on the firing line to apprehend Moat. Sonya Cassidy also joins the cast as local journalist Diane Barnwell, whose coverage of Raoul Moat’s attack helped shed light on his brutal and violent crime.
When Moat doubles down on his threats of attacking the very police force hunting him, 160 armed officers were deployed to find him. The police then request a media blackout after senior officers grapple to manage the manhunt amid reports that Moat’s release from prison was mishandled. Moat refuses to surrender.
An unexpected sighting sets off a police raid after the car Moat has been using was identified, with the manhunt zeroing in on a tent near Rothbury. The police also enlists the help of a survival expert to track Moat’s trail, discovering that the infamous killer has all the survival skills to last for weeks in the woods.
Nearing arrest, Moat commits suicide. Directed by Gareth Bryn, the ITV drama leaves no stone unturned in its quest to shed light on the manhunt that kept an entire nation on edge.
