In Scream 6, the survivors of the 2021 Woodsboro attacks attempt to start anew in New York City, only for a new killer to begin another gory rampage. It’s worth noting that Scream’s sixth instalment is the first movie without Neve Campbell’s character, Sidney Prescott, changing the landscape of the entire franchise. Nevertheless, Scream 6 was both a critical and commercial success with new lead stars Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega headlining the film as sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter.
For those who haven’t seen the film or just want to rewatch the thrilling sequel, Scream 6 is finally dropping on streaming, debuting exclusively on Paramount+.
What’s in this Guide?
What is the plot of Scream 6?
In the new Scream movie, Sam, Tara, Chad and Mindy, the four survivors of the latest Ghostface killings, leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter in New York. It has only been year after the harrowing event that left them scarred for life but just as they’re trying to put the horrors of the past behind them, a new Ghostface killer emerges and begins taunting them with murderous rampage.
To defeat the new killer, or killers, who take pride in being more terrifyingly tenacious, they must join forces with those who have dealt with the very same trauma in the past: FBI special agent Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere) and reporter Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox).
Scream 6 (officially entitled Scream VI) was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, the same team behind the previous Scream (2022) film. Thanks to the massive success of the sixth movie, Scream 7 is currently in the works.
