In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the couple’s undying love for each other is fairly established, but did you know that before Romeo spotted Juliet at the latter’s family gathering, there was someone else he loved? Juliet’s cousin, Rosaline!
In 20th Century Studios’ new Rosaline film, we’ll finally meet the girl who Romeo loved before Juliet and how she’s annoyed to discover that he’s telling Juliet things he already said to her three days ago. A comedic retelling of Romeo and Juliet, Rosaline stars Kaitlyn Dever as the titular character and Isabela Merced as Juliet.

Rosaline film preview
Before meeting Juliet, Romeo has his eyes set on Rosaline. However, his affection for her was short-lived so that when Juliet enters the picture, he’s immediately smitten. While Romeo and Juliet become young lovers with impossible odds to overcome, it’s about time to explore how Romeo’s ex, Rosaline, feels about all this.
As per the official trailer, Rosaline is not thrilled about Romeo forgetting her after he has met Juliet. As a matter of fact, she feels a little vindictive that she’s decided to do whatever it takes to get her guy back. But will her plans be enough to interfere with Romeo and Juliet’s love affair?
Or, will she be eventually okay third-wheeling the now iconic star-crossed couple? And if Rosaline is resourceful and persistent enough to break Romeo and Juliet up, does that mean that she can also stop tragic events from ever unfolding?
Find out how it all goes for Rosaline, her cousin Juliet, and the guy they both like, Romeo, with the 2022 Rosaline film to premiere in Australia this October!
