What is the plot of the Ridley TV series?

In the British police procedural drama series Ridley, you’ll be drawn into the enigmatic world of retired detective inspector Alex Ridley. The show takes a dark and unexpected turn as Ridley’s life is forever altered by tragedy. After experiencing the devastating loss of his wife and daughter in a house fire, he’s forced to retire from the police force, leaving a dedicated service behind.

However, Ridley’s story doesn’t end there. Eighteen months later, he re-emerges as a police consultant to consult on a missing person case, called upon to assist his former colleague, Carol Farman. The compelling murder case at the heart of the narrative leads them down unexpected twists and turns, as they uncover a shocking secret buried deep within their community.

Forty years ago, a jazz singer’s brother mysteriously vanished. Ridley decides to take it upon himself to assist in the search for the missing brother. However, as he delves deeper into the investigation, it becomes increasingly apparent that the murder of a young woman appears intricately tied to this perplexing case.

As the investigation takes a dark and unexpected twist, Ridley’s expertise becomes invaluable, and the chemistry between him and Carol, his former protégée, adds a layer of depth to the story.

As Carol and Ridley stumble upon the discovery of a young woman’s remains found buried in a shallow grave amid the desolate landscapes of the Pennine moorland, they unravel a startling revelation: she had been living a clandestine dual existence.
