In Red White and Royal Blue, the son of the US President and Britain’s Prince Henry don’t get along and they seem to be fine not liking each other. But when a public altercation lands them in hot water, threatening the former’s mother’s re-election bid, they’re forced to pretend they’re friends. Forging a friendly relationship, which they initially did to alleviate the diplomatic crisis they’ve started, they soon find themselves drawn to each other, sparking something deeper than they ever anticipated.
Based on Casey McQuiston’s best-selling novel of the same name, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming adaptation.

Red, White & Royal Blue movie preview
The upcoming screen adaptation of the best-selling romance novel follows the son of the US President, Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), and Britain’s Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine). Disliking each other from the beginning, their mutual feelings of disdain reach a boiling point while attending a royal wedding. As they engage in a very public altercation, they end up falling into and smashing the wedding cake.
As expected, their messy blunder at the royal event turns into a full-scale diplomatic and media crisis after being photographed, with the incident being widely publicised. As this compromises Alex’s mother’s re-election bid for president, the two young men are forced to be friends for damage control. Eventually, the unlikely duo becomes good friends for real, their friendship blossoming into something they didn’t see coming.
After winning the auction to the movie rights of the novel, Amazon Studios has playwright Matthew Lopez directing and rewriting the story for streaming alongside Ted Malawer. As with most adaptations, fans can expect some changes in the story, which the writers did by finding the balance of serving Casey’s story while also ensuring that it has all the elements that the movie needs.
