From the creative minds behind Super Troopers and Tacoma FD comes a new historical satire revolving around Victor Hugo’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame main character, Quasimodo. But in Fox Searchlight Pictures’ 2023 version, we’ll be introduced to Quasi, a hapless hunchback who also yearns for love and acceptance in a vicious world. Only this time he’s transported in the Middle Ages. Set in a very different time period and donning a very different tone, Quasi does not, in any way, intend to take itself seriously.
Dropping next week on streaming TV, here’s how you can watch the new Quasi movie online.

Quasi movie preview
Victor Hugo’s famed character, Quasimodo, gets a major revision in Fox Searchlight’s new movie Quasi. This time, the story’s protagonist navigates his tough life in the Middle Ages, surrounded by the people of his community who are either unbelievably mean or incredibly boisterous.
His fate changes after winning the lottery, giving him the rare opportunity to have a private confession with the Pope (Paul Soter). His so-called luck, however, only puts him in a dire position after learning that the Pope and the King of France (Jay Chandrasekhar) wants each other dead when both enlists his service to kill the other.
With two formidable powers clashing and Quasi finding himself right in the middle, the film explores the uneasy relationship between monarchy and religion and the corruption that plagues both institutions to hilarious results. And, as if the feud between the Pope and the King is not insanely wild enough, he also falls in love with a member of the royal family (Adrianne Palicki), setting the stage for an outrageous, fun-filled adventure.
Written by Broken Lizard and directed by Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme stars as the title character Quasi, alongside Jay Chandrasekhar, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske, the very same guys making Quasi. Aside from Super Troopers, Broken Lizard is also best known for creating Club Dread and The Slammin’ Salmon.
Quasi movie release date
A satirical take on Victor Hugo’s Quasimodo character, Quasi premieres in Australia on 20th April, streaming exclusively on Disney Plus. With the movie debuting on streaming (Hulu in the US), a theatrical run is unlikely.
