In his first lead role on television, John Cena stars as Peacemaker, a new DC superhero/supervillain still streaming on our screens on BINGE. The series, also titled Peacemaker, is based on the DC comics character of the same name, with The Suicide Squad writer and director James Gunn at the helm. Find out how to watch the new series with this guide below.
What’s in this Guide?
Peacemaker TV series preview
A spin-off of the 2021 film The Suicide Squad, the eight-episode streaming TV series explores the origins of the titular character, delving into his history and his motivations. Peacemaker takes place after the events of The Suicide Squad, so fans can see more of him, his subsequent missions, and the extent of his involvement with Amanda Waller.
For obvious reasons, Peacemaker isn’t your regular protagonist. He sees the world and views his actions differently. As a matter of fact, he’s got too much pride and vanity; and he doesn’t have any qualms when it comes to killing, believing that death is the cost of peace. With such a character to explore, the new series also serves as a timely opportunity to examine current world issues through Peacemaker’s point of view.
James Gunn wrote all episodes of the first season and directed five of them. Gunn is also an executive producer alongside Peter Safran. In Peacemaker, John Cena also serves as co-executive producer. It premiered via HBO Max in the US, while fans in Australia can stream it instantly on BINGE.
How many episodes of Peacemaker?
The superhero show consisted of eight episodes, airing between January and February 2022. It launched with a triple-episode debut with the remaining episodes streaming weekly. The final episode aired on 17th February.

Will Peacemaker return for season 2?
The success of Peacemaker Season 1 led the show’s renewal for a second season in February 2022. The Season 1 finale even broke the record for highest single-day viewership of an HBO Max original episode. James Gunn also returns to the TV series as creator and director of all episodes for Season 2.
