What’s in this Guide?
Opal Hunters: Red Dirt Roadtrip preview
Outback Opal Hunters personality and masterful miner Rod Manning teams up with newbie James ‘JC’ Caruana in the all-new Opal Hunters: Red Dirt Roadtrip. Together, they embark on a cross-country Aussie adventure through the brutal outback with one mission in mind: to earn as much as possible. Actually make those two missions because Rod also intends to teach JC a thing or two about opal mining.
The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. In just three months’ time, JC will be a father. For Manning, it is crucial that he learns the tricks of the opal trade to maximise opportunities and provide for his growing family. Not only will JC learn more about the cutthroat industry of opal mining and its numerous money making schemes, he’ll also find out about it firsthand as he lives off the land for three months!
To say that the journey ahead of them is tough is an understatement. In Episode 1, massive floods prove to be nasty impediments, especially with a broken down vehicle. Right after that, Rod and JC battle extreme weather and dangerous terrain. They later learn a valuable lesson while mining in the hot and hostile Andamooka.
Over the course of the series, the duo struggles to continue their expedition. After Rod and JC hit rock bottom, a final opal sale decides their future. Looking forward to more of these challenges, all the while being treated to the admirable ferociousness of the Australian outback?
