Comedian Lee Mack plays a fictionalised version of himself in the long-running British sitcom Not Going Out. His character is a lodger who spends most of his days on the sofa. His lack of ambitions, or absence, rather, prevents him from having any desire to be productive. When he does decide to do something, it’s to hang out in the pub with his best friend Tim (Tim Vine).
Now in its twelfth season, Not Going Out remains to be a top favourite for laidback viewing. Fortunately, fans in Australia can stream all episodes from every season online. Find out how using this guide.

Not Going Out TV series preview
Not Going Out revolves around Lee Mack. In the first episode, he’s introduced as a man in his late thirties who lives as a lodger in a flat in the London Docklands. Known for his penchant for slacking off whilst being unbothered about it, the only highlights of his days are the time he spends with his best friend Tim. That and pursuing the girl of his dreams, which often ends unsuccessfully, until he meets Tim’s sister, Lucy.
Throughout its twelve-season run, the show’s main cast members have changed, with Mack being the only original cast member of the series and the only actor to appear in every episode.
When Tim Vine’s Tim Adams departed the show in 2012 after the fifth series, the show continued with Lee, Lucy, and Tim’s ex-girlfriend Daisy as the primary characters.
In Season 7, Lee and Lucy finally get together, marrying in the seventh season finale. Later, Lucy announces her pregnancy and the couple welcomes their first child in the 2015 Christmas Special.
Featuring a significant time jump, Season 8 is set seven years after the Christmas special. Lee and Lucy have been married for eight years with three young children.
From his eternal laziness to being a family man facing the joy and constant challenges of raising his kids and dealing with Lucy’s parents, it would seem that Lee’s couch surfing days are really over.
