There’s a new superhero series streaming now in Australia – Naomi. Based on the comic book miniseries of the same name (created by Brian Michael Bendis, David F. Walker, and Jamal Campbell), it revolves around the titular character as she embarks on a journey to pursue “her hidden destiny”. Don’t miss Naomi’s series episodes using this guide below.
Naomi DC TV show preview
Naomi McDuffie is a young woman whose ordinary teenage existence is upended when a supernatural event brings life-altering consequences to her hometown of Port Oswego. Believing the otherworldly occurrence is connected to her, she sets out to investigate its origins. As Naomi journeys and delves into the secrets of the Multiverse, she ultimately discovers who she really is and what she’s capable of.
Unlike other established DC-based series, Naomi is expected to stand out for a couple of reasons. First, it doesn’t have an expansive comic book storyline, which means there’s a lot that even DC fans don’t know about her yet. Now adapted for television, it’s exciting to see how this angle will be utilised to further explore her story and deepen her character.
Second, she doesn’t have a superhero name yet and the upcoming series itself uses her human name as its title. Whether she’ll eventually find her non-human moniker at one point or the show’s narrative would stick to her first name as the foundation of her superhero character remains to be seen. You’ll know soon enough when the series premieres in Australia.
Naomi, a new show coming to your screens in 2022, is developed for television by Ava DuVernay. She’s also one of the executive producers through DuVernay’s Array Filmworks, in association with Warner Bros Television. Alongside DuVernay, it is executive produced by Arrow writer Jill Blankenship with Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes.
Naomi DC TV show cast
This upcoming DC TV series has an extensive cast of future stars with newcomer Kaci Walfall headlining the show as the titular character. Joining Walfall in the main cast are Cranston Johnson as Zumbado, who’s already a familiar name amongst comic book fans. Alexander Wraith also stars as Dee, a tattoo parlour owner who becomes Naomi’s mentor. Check them all out here.
