Grady Hendrix’s horror novel, My Best Friend’s Exorcism, is getting a film adaptation that’s set to premiere on streaming TV this month. It follows best friends Abby and Gretchen and their inseparable bond as they spend much of their time together since fourth grade and deal with the pressures of growing up. That all changes when they hang out with their friends Glee and Margaret at the latter’s lake house and Gretchen disappears for hours. Nothing is ever the same when she returns, leading Abby to suspect the worst – a demonic possession!

My Best Friend’s Exorcism movie preview
Set in 1988, high school sophomores Abby and Gretchen have been best friends for a long time – that is until a supposedly night of fun and adventure goes disastrously wrong when Gretchen disappears and comes back a different person. While she claims that nothing happened while she was gone, Gretchen begins to act strange. She’s moody, she’s irritable, and bizarre incidents take place whenever she’s nearby.
Coincidence? Abby definitely thinks not. And what are best friends for if not working together to battle a menacing foe? And by this meaning the real deal threat of an enemy; not mean girls, not acne, and not even a bad hair day. Abby’s investigation leads her to some startling discoveries and a terrifying conclusion that’ll make or break their relationship. What happens next determines Abby and Gretchen’s fate and the future of their friendship. Is their bond strong enough to defeat the devil?
