From the writer of the global TV hit Fauda comes another gripping thriller, Munich Games. It’s set 50 years after the shocking Olympics massacre that took the lives of 11 Israeli hostages, along with one Munich policeman, in a terrorist attack carried out by a Palestinian terrorist group called Black September.
Paying homage to the victims of the Munich massacre, a friendly football match between an Israeli and a German football club is set at the Munich Olympic stadium. But despite the authorities being on top of things to ensure everyone’s safety, it would seem that wicked forces are just waiting for another time to strike again.
What’s in this Guide?
Munich Games preview
Five decades after the devastating Olympics massacre, Munich is hosting a soccer game between an Israeli and a German team. With a high-stakes global event arranged to commemorate the victims of the infamous Munich massacre, both countries are particularly anxious. It turns out there’s a reason to.
When Mossad agent Oren Simon (Yousef Sweid) catches a whiff of what might be a potential attack just days before the match, he’s sent to work alongside German police officer Maria Köhler (Seyneb Saleh) to investigate further. As things begin to fall apart, it seems history might be repeating itself after all, and now it’s up to Simon and Köhler to stop a terror attack tied to the 1972 massacre of Israeli athletes.
Produced by Sky Deutschland, Munich Games is a multi-language thriller created by Michal Aviram (Fauda). It’s directed by Philipp Kadelbach (Perfume) and written by Aviram and Martin Behnke (Berlin Alexanderplatz). It is a co-production by Amusement Park Film, CBS Studios and Sky Studios.
In addition to producing the new series, Sky also announces the release of 1972: Munich’s Black September on Sky Documentaries, covering the tragic events of the Munich Massacre.
