A few years after the events in Sons of Anarchy, the Mayans M.C. gets the spotlight in the fictional universe once ruled by Sons of Anarchy. Being the Sons’ rivals-turned-allies, the members of Mayans MC are rich in a story that’s largely fueled by crime, vengeance, and at times, redemption. Four seasons in and Mayans MC remains solid. While the Tellers from Sons of Anarchy are hard to forget, the spin-off proved to be as thrilling as its predecessor with characters that became more compelling over time.
What’s in this Guide?
Mayans M.C. preview
Mayans MC follows EZ Reyes and the people around him. Once the golden boy of his town with a huge potential to secure the coveted American dream, he becomes a prospect in the Mayans MC charter on the California/Mexican border town of Santo Padre after being released from prison. It’s far from the life he had imagined for himself, but his thirst for vengeance after a cartel violence ruined his life and family pushes him to create a new identity in order to adapt to a new world that’s persistent to have him.
In the course of the show, EZ has proven himself smart, efficient, and useful despite his internal struggles over his new life. He ultimately becomes a respected member of the club alongside his brother, Angel Reyes. Becoming more powerful, the Mayans gain both new allies and enemies as they move up the ladder, resulting in Mayans facing off against Sons of Anarchy in Season 4.
The previous season also teased game-changing events, setting the stage for an explosive series conclusion. We can only expect that the fifth season will explore every possible consequence that EZ’s shocking coup will have from both outside and within the club. EZ forcing longtime Mayans M.C. leader Marcus Alvarez (Emilio Rivera) out of Presidency may be a daring, calculative move that secured his reign, but there are other devastating consequences, including his relationship with his brother.
