What’s in this Guide?
Legendary Season 3 preview
A month after Legendary Season 2 premiered in May 2021, HBO Max announced its renewal for a third season. Season 3 follows the new format that the previous season had introduced, in which the judges score each performance. The sum of the scores from the judges are then used to determine the standing of the Houses.
Every episode of Legendary Season 3 continues to feature fashion and performance coaches to perfect the houses’ look and choreograph their moves on the dance floor. For this season, guest judges include Issa Rae, Kelly Rowland, Leslie Jones, Anitta, Dominique Jackson, and Bob The Drag Queen. Big celebrities like Taraji P. Henson, Adam Lambert, Demi Lovato, and Tiffany Haddish have also been featured on the show as a guest judge.
For the Legendary duelists, Season 3 also features more contestants with 10 iconic houses competing for the “Legendary” title: House of Ada, House of Alain Mikli, House of Alpha Omega, House of Du’Mure Versailles, Kiki House of Juicy Couture, House of LaBeija, House of Lyght, House of Makaveli, House of Revlon, and House of Yamamoto.
The winning house gets the largest ballroom grand prize of $100,000. Season 3 also sees the departure of Megan Thee Stallion, with Keke Palmer as her replacement.
Legendary TV show recap
The show revolves around LGBTQ members as they navigate their way through ballsy fashion and dance challenges to ultimately achieve the hefty cash prize and “Legendary” status. The divas of the show are divided into eight voguing teams called “houses”.
The show’s format is similar to that of a round-robin league, and every episode features a unique ball theme where the performers and their respective leaders compete.
The inaugural ball kicks off with an epic Grand March, leaving a killer first impression. As the show progresses, the second episode comes with three challenges at the dreamy fairy-tale ball. In the third episode, the voguing teams channel their inner freaks at the Circus Bezerkus ball.
The fourth episode in season 1 is the Money Ball, where participants compete in three rowdy showdowns to win a bounty of $25,000. In the next episode, the Houses mirror their founding mothers in an old-fashioned vogue battle.
In the fifth episode, you can see the Houses battle it out with an intergalactic theme. Up next, in “Capes & Tights, the remaining houses emulate supermodels, superheroes, and supervillains. The Money Ball leaves the Superior House with a significant edge.
The semi-finals find all the remaining Houses joining forces to go from four houses to two “Megahouses”. They then battle in five deep-sea categories, an excellent build-up to the finals.
Come finals, the Houses compete in “Heaven and Hell” themed rounds, and the audience gets a glimpse of a biblical battle.
