In this new Law & Order spin-off, former Special Victims Unit member Detective Elliot Stabler returns to the NYPD after his retirement. A devastating personal loss led to his joining the police department again, becoming part of a task force within the Organized Crime Control Bureau. Determined to find his wife’s killers, he becomes the bureau’s second in command.
Christopher Meloni reprises his role as Elliot Stabler, who Law & Order fans can recognise as then-Detective Olivia Benson’s partner in Special Victims Unit. He abruptly departed the series at the end of Season 12 in 2011. After a decade away, he’s back in the Law & Order universe in 2021 on his own spinoff, Organized Crime.
Long-time fans of the franchise will also be delighted to know that there are crossover episodes between Organized Crime and Special Victims Unit, which means Benson and Stabler, as well as other SVU members, get to have their much-awaited reunions.

Law & Order: Organized Crime preview
Organized Crime, Law & Order franchise’s seventh series follows Meloni’s Detective Elliot Stabler as he returns to battle organized crime after his wife’s tragic murder.
Joining Stabler in the OCCB task force are squad supervisor Sergeant Ayanna Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt), Detective Jet Slootmaekers (Ainsley Seiger), Detective Nova Riley (Nona Parker Johnson), Detective 2nd Grade Jamie Whelan (Brent Antonello), and Detective Bobby Reyes (Rick Gonzalez).
Together, they hunt down the vicious and violent members of New York’s underworld. Dealing with a dangerous criminal gang posing as police officers, stopping a sinister human trafficking operation, and risking their careers over a callous and desperate suspect are just some of the insane things they go through.
Organized Crime kicked off on 1 April 2021 as part of a two-hour crossover with Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in the Season 22 episode titled “Return of the Prodigal Son”, marking Stabler’s reunion with Benson after more than a decade. In addition to Benson, Stabler also reunited with Sergeant Fin Tutuola (Ice-T), Detective Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano), Detective Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish), Detective Grace Muncy (Molly Burnett), and ADA Dominick Carisi Jr. (Peter Scanavino).
