The martial arts adventure series that first aired in 2021 is back for a third season this year. Following Nicky Shen as she strives to protect her family and her entire community from a fearsome triad, Kung Fu is a re-imagining of the 1972 Kung Fu TV series of the same name and headlined by a female protagonist. Ahead of the Kung Fu Season 3 premiere, find out where and how to watch the new episodes in this guide.

Kung Fu Season 3 preview
In Kung Fu Season 3, Nicky puts on a brave face while she starts anew. Henry’s departure may have hurt her deeply but she’s doing a pretty good job hiding her devastation. While she’s secretly struggling with their breakup, she’s actually found her feet despite all the things she went through. She has a new job at the community centre and is still efficient in protecting her community from all kinds of bad guys.
But with her history and her warrior bloodline, she’s bound to fight new forms of evil. Season 3 also had fans wondering about Zhilan’s mysterious return. She sacrificed herself in the second season finale but it seems that she’s also set to stick around full time in the new season.
With Henry leaving, Nicky may also find a new love interest in Bo, a new character in the third season. Bo is new in the city but is familiar with Nicky’s work in protecting it from criminals, even helping her many times with his equally impressive fighting skills.
And, of course, the Kung Fu Season 2 finale also delivered an even more pressing question: Is Nicky’s deceased shifu, Pei-Ling, back from the dead? Whether she has been revived or her emergence from the woods outside of San Francisco is something else, one thing’s for sure – the stakes are high in Kung Fu Season 3 and Nicky will have to deal with some serious repercussions.

Kung Fu TV series 2021 recap
The first season of Kung Fu introduces us to Nicky Shen. Desperate to escape her overbearing family and lead her own life, she ditches university and makes the life-altering decision to travel to China. There, she joins an all-female Shaolin monastery where she trains to become an expert fighter. She decides to return to San Francisco after her mentor was murdered.
Back at home, she is welcomed by everyone except her mother and younger brother. She also learns that her family is indebted to the local Triad boss when her father took severe beating from the gangsters. Using her newly acquired martial arts expertise and with the help of her tech-savvy sister and medical student brother, they intend to bring down the powerful triad and help provide peace and justice in their violence-struck community.
A Kung Fu reboot has been in development for years, but unlike the original series, the new one is intended to be a female-led revival. Major producers from Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television were involved but it was only after the series had moved to The CW that official production of the show began. Developed by Christina M. Kim, it stars Olivia Liang as the central protagonist. Writers Ryan Johnson and Robert Berens, among others, have also joined the show.
