In 2021, several women came forward accusing Hollywood actor Armie Hammer of sexual abuse, physical violence, and psychological manipulation. Messages from the actor also divulged cannibalism fantasies, which he reportedly shared with former girlfriends. Discovery+’s new documentary series, House of Hammer, revolves around these allegations.
The docuseries, which premiered in the US last September, tackles Armie Hammer’s alleged crimes and delves into the Hammer family, their dark and twisted secrets unveiled to the public. It presents an in-depth coverage with Hammer’s alleged victims and her aunt Casey Hammer in the front line, ultimately revealing that Armie Hammer’s reported abuse is only the tip of the iceberg.
What’s in this Guide?
House of Hammer documentary preview
The Armie Hammer documentary, House of Hammer, not only covers Armie’s alleged abuse, it also seeks to expose the deceptively dark story of the Hammer family based on the personal account of Casey Hammer, the sister of Armie’s father, Michael.
Estranged from her family, Casey revealed in her 2015 self-published book, Surviving My Birthright, that her father, Julian Armand Hammer, sexually abused her. In House of Hammer, Casey tells not only her story, but also exposes the abuse she claims to have been happening for generations, passed from fathers to sons.
Featuring exclusive revelations from Armie Hammer’s alleged victims, as well as some family members and close family friends, the oil tycoon dynasty and the family tree that comprises it is extensively scrutinised. With the family’s dark secrets out, the disclosure tying Julius Hammer, Julian Hammer, Armand Hammer, Michael Hammer, and now Armie Hammer, to all kinds of violence is shocking as it is unsettling.
House of Hammer is not the first time that Hammer’s former girlfriends have spoken about their shocking experiences, with some of the details already shared on social media. However, these narrations of alleged events are limited, and so the documentary series gives them the opportunity to further talk about their time with the actor and the emotional toll they have endured as a result of the relationship.
Amid allegations of sexual assault and other sexual misconduct, the Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that the actor is currently being investigated. Hammer has denied the allegations against him, although both his career and reputation has been hit severely, abandoning numerous future film projects and being dropped by his agency and publicist.
