What to expect in Grey’s Anatomy Season 20?

Grey’s Anatomy just beat ER for having the longest tenure on primetime TV, airing for 20 seasons now compared to ER’s 15. It follows the personal and professional lives of the surgical interns, residents, and attendings at the Seattle Grace Hospital (now Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital).

They would later become seasoned doctors, although their professional duties and accomplishments always have repercussions on their personal relationships. Every day, they’re also faced with life or death decisions, which either make or break their characters and resolutions.

In season 20, medical emergencies remain intense at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, especially after that cliffhanger ending during Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 finale when Dr. Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) complained about an annoying toothache that shockingly transformed into a cardiac arrest. We’re still unsure of the cardiothoracic surgeon’s fate but we’ll soon find out once new episodes begin rolling out in March.

The fate of interns Lucas and Simone who performed an unauthorised surgery on Sam Sutton after Dr. Altman collapsed is also still unclear. With no attendings around, the duo made the bold yet fearless decision to operate, however, it wasn’t enough to save Sam’s life. There’s bound to be repercussions for this tragic chaos, which is why fans have been eagerly waiting for Grey’s Anatomy’s return.

Meanwhile, we know the show has recently introduced new cast members in the previous season, that’s why fans will be delighted to still see some familiar faces walking the halls of Grey Sloan, including Chandra Wilson’s Miranda Bailey, James Pickens Jr.’s Richard Webber, and Ellen Pompeo herself, who’s been confirmed to appear as Meredith Grey in at least four episodes this season. She will also remain as the show’s narrator and serve as an executive producer.
