What is the plot of Doc Martin?
Doc Martin revolves around the life of Doctor Martin Ellingham, a brilliant and accomplished vascular surgeon from London. However, fate takes an unexpected turn when Dr. Ellingham develops haemophobia, a paralysing fear of blood. As a result, he was scrutinised by the General Medical Council, bidding farewell to his surgical career at Imperial College London.
In search of a fresh start, he finds himself in the picturesque and idyllic Cornish village of Portwenn, a place where he’s had some wonderful childhood memories. As he arrives in Portwenn, the locals, with their endearing charm, address him affectionately as “Doc Martin” instead of Doctor Ellingham, much to his initial frustration.

From the incompetent receptionist Elaine Denham, portrayed by Lucy Punch, to the later addition of Pauline Lamb, played by Katherine Parkinson, who not only handles reception but also becomes a phlebotomist, the series features a delightful cast of characters.
