Casa Grande is an upcoming bilingual limited series that promises to explore the complex dynamics between California’s migrant workforce and the landowners who profit from their labour. Created by Lauren Swickard and the debut series from Ali Afshar’s ESX Entertainment (which has mostly focused on holiday films such as Holiday Harmony and A Christmas Mystery), the new drama follows the intersecting lives of several families in Northern California’s farmlands.

Set to premiere on streaming this month, here’s how you can watch every episode in Australia.

What’s in this Guide?

Casa Grande TV series preview

Casa Grande promises to be a unique and thought-provoking exploration of class, immigration, culture, and family. The show, which uses the framework of conventional character drama, will delve into the universal themes that lie at the heart of the American experience. At its core, it is a story about the unseen forces that make the American dream possible – the unyielding labour of the socially invisible migrant workforce.

The show follows several families in the farmland of Northern California as they navigate the complex web of relationships and tensions that arise when cultures clash. At the center of the drama is the Clarkman Farm and its neighbouring property, Dalton Farm.

These farms employ, house, and feed many of Mendocino County’s undocumented immigrants, making them the beating heart of the local economy. But behind the idyllic facade lies a darker truth – the glimmering, upper-crust culture could not exist without the backbreaking labor of the migrant workforce.

Created by Lauren Swickard (A California Christmas) and written in collaboration with Alex Ranarivelo and Michael Cruz, the show promises to be a gripping and emotionally resonant series.

Swickard serves as showrunner, bringing her keen insight into character and her ability to craft compelling narratives to the project. Other executive producers include Ava Rettke and Daniel Aspromonte, who bring a wealth of experience in the industry to the table.
