Bleach, arguably one of the “Big 3” anime along with Naruto and One Piece, follows Ichigo Kurosaki, an orange haired ordinary high school student with the extraordinary ability to see ghosts. His life changes forever when he encounters the Soul Reaper (Shinigami), Rukia Kuchiki. The original run of the series anime adaptation ended in 2014 with Ichigo recovering his Shinigami power the same way he unlocked it, not just through Rukia, but with the help of the top tier characters he encountered throughout his journey.
Despite the show seemingly ending, Bleach fans patiently waited for its return. Then, in October 2022, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, a direct sequel to the Bleach anime series, focusing on the Quincy invasion led by Yhwach, finally aired with 13 episodes. In the first part of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, warning sirens blare, and the soul reapers find themselves facing a suddenly broken reality as the Quincy army invades the Soul Society.
Meanwhile, approaching Ichigo and his friends is a darkness that threatens Karakura Town, compelling Ichigo Kurosaki to rise to the occasion once more. Leading the invasion is the now-awakened Quincy King, Yhwach, who was defeated in his failed invasion a thousand years ago by Captain Genryusai Yamamoto and the original set of captains of the Thirteen Court Guard Companies.
In the second season, the world of soul reapers, hollows, and the battle for existence continue to unfold with Ichigo familiarising himself with his true Zanpakuto and his new Bankai. The new trailer teases an all-out impending chaos, as well as a glimpse of captain Hirako Shinji calling out his never before seen Bankai.
As the English dub is released on Disney Plus, viewers can immerse themselves in the epic showdowns between soul reapers and Quincies, all taking place within the hallowed halls of the royal palace.
