Aquaman: King of Atlantis TV series preview
If you were looking for the fun, bold, and colourful counterpart to James Wan’s Aquaman, then you’re in luck. James Wan, along with executive producers Victor Courtright and Marly Halpern, have produced the brand new HBO Max miniseries – Aquaman: King of Atlantis.
The animated miniseries follows Arthur Curry (voiced by Cooper Andrews) on his first day as King of the Oceans. By his side are his two royal advisors – the royal advisor Vulko (voiced by Thomas Lennon) and his love interest Mera, the warrior princess who controls water (voiced by Gillian Jacobs).
Adding to the pressure of living up to his job title is the threat of elder evils from a different time, unscrupulous surface dwellers, and his half-brother, the Ocean Master (voiced by Dana Snyder), trying to steal his throne.
We see Aquaman rise to the challenge of fighting evil and running his kingdom in this brand new, sci-fi animated miniseries. The first episode of three, Dead Sea, will be premiering on October 14 only on FOX 8.
As a miniseries, King of Atlantis will only have three episodes and one season. However, it does come as a welcome teaser before the release of James Wan’s Aquaman sequel. The live-action sequel that the producer is working on with Jason Momoa with follows where the original left off.
The new animated miniseries is not set in the same world as the films. Even in the trailer, you can see the differences in the setting and tone of the series. Unlike the movies, the miniseries is a quirkier take on the DC superhero.
Warner Bros and James Wan had been in talks regarding the animated series before it was announced at WarnerMedia’s Television Critics Association Day. The standalone series joins a host of powerhouse productions by the company, including Looney Tunes Cartoons and Adventure Time.
