Live streaming football

The AFC Asian Cup serves as the major football competition among the senior men’s national teams within the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), determining the regions continental champion.

It stands as the second oldest continental football championship globally, succeeding only the Copa América. The victorious team earns the title of Asia’s champion, and during 2019 the event expanded to 24 teams, with the tournament also contributing to the qualification for the FIFA World Cup.

More recently, the AFC announced on October 17, 2022, that Qatar would host the tournament. Owing to the intense summer heat in the Persian Gulf and Qatar’s involvement in the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup, the event was rescheduled to take place from January 12 to February 10, 2024.

How to watch AFC Asian Cup games live in Australia

This edition of the Asian Cup kicks off on 13 January, and concludes with the final on the 11th of February, 2024 (AEDT). The knock-out stage will see a total of fifteen matches, which includes the Round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals until the Final.

The Socceroos are located in Group B, alongside India, Syria and Uzbekistan. Last time out (2019) the Socceroos made it into the Quarter-finals where they were narrowly defeated by the UAE. This time around, Australia will look to advance further, as they enter the fourth highest ranked side behind Iran, Japan and South Korea.

Here in 2023/24, the live Asian Cup broadcast rights belong exclusively to Paramount+. In additional to broadcasting all 36 games of the Group Stage, Paramount+ will also carry every Knock-out match and the Final, for a total of 51 live Asian Cup contests.

For comparison, free-to-air broadcaster channel Ten will only be allowed to show the matches involving the Socceroos and select games in the finals. This includes the three matches that are scheduled during the Group Stage, as well as any Knock-out games the Socceroos may qualify for, and the Asian Cup Final on 11 February.
