When loner Lucky Flynn gets word that his mother is dying, he decides to travel across Australia, taking nothing but an old upright piano as company. But in the middle of the Australian desert, he meets a runaway teenager and together they create an unlikely bond.
Upright TV series was a breakout success when it premiered, prompting a second season. It stars comedian Tim Minchin, who won the Best Comedy Performer at the AACTA Awards for his role, alongside Milly Alcock, now a mega star thanks to her portrayal of the young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon.
Returning for a brand new instalment, the much anticipated Season 2 of Upright premieres in November in Australia, and using the information in this guide you won’t have to miss a key moment.

Upright Season 2 preview
A fresh adventure is brewing with the announcement of Upright returning for a new instalment. Tim Minchin and Milly Alcock reunite as the misfit duo Lucky and Meg, but unlike their destination in the first season, Upright Season 2 will have them journeying the Far North Queensland. Joining the production team of the new season is acclaimed actor, writer and director Mirra Foulkes, as confirmed by Foxtel executive director of television, Brian Walsh. Season 2 will also feature additional writers, including Niki Aken, Ian Meadows, and Natesha Somasundaram.
Upright Season 2 is a collaboration between Lingo Pictures, Foxtel, and Sky UK. Screen Australia in association with Screen Queensland and with support from Screen NSW and Cutting Edge provided substantial production investment. Producing the show’s season 2 are Jason Stephens and Queensland producer Meg O’Connell (Robbie Hood), as well as Lingo Pictures’ Helen Bowden as executive producer.
A heartwarming adventure that’s also packed with feel-good humour, Upright S2 finally premieres in Australia this November as Lucky and Meg hit the road, again, to probably wild and hilarious results, again. The mission this time? To find Meg’s mum.
