Rugby is a sport with a vast global following which continues to gain in popularity. The 2023/24 World Rugby Sevens series, also known as the HSBC SVNS, commences in December 2023 and will conclude in June 2024.
This variation of the traditional rugby union features seven-member teams playing seven-minute halves, and was first introduced in 1999, with the women’s league debuting in 2012.
The Sevens Series travels to different venues around the world, giving fans the chance to see their favourite teams and players in action.
Last year’s champions in the men’s league was New Zealand, with Argentina and Fiji as runner up and third place, respectively. New Zealand also won the women’s Sevens championship for a rare double.

When is the Rugby Sevens live on streaming TV in Australia?
The 2023/24 season will be the first ever wherein the series format changes, with teams reduced from 16 to 12. The tournament will consist of eight events. Top 8 teams will then play in the Grand Final to be hosted in Spain.
The men’s and women’s Rugby Sevens schedule is also being combined, so there will be no confusion about who’s playing at each stop in the tournament.
These Rugby 7’s fixtures will be followed by the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which begins on 26 July and will see the inclusion of Rugby Sevens.
