His Dark Materials Season 3 preview
His Dark Materials takes place in a unique multiverse, populated with alternative universes. In one of these universes, humans are bound to talking animals called ‘daemons’. The narrative depicts the life of Lyra Belacqua, a young girl trying to save the existence of those around her, guided by her alethiometer, who can see into the future.
Seasons 1 and 2 of the TV series are based on Northern Lights and The Subtle Knife, respectively, with the second season ending back in 2020. After two long years, the third season finally kicks off and being the final season, fans can expect for this captivating fantasy story to end with a bang.
In the trailer for His Dark Materials Season 3, fans are reacquainted with James McAvoy’s character, Lord Asriel, as he builds an army to combat the Authority. This war escalates to the point of no return, with creatures and forces from different worlds joining the epic battle. Angels will also have to interfere and pick a side. From the looks of it, Lord Asriel will have a bigger role to play in the final series, even though he was absent from most of Season 2.
The third season also sees Lyra being captured by Mrs Coulter while Will searches for her. There’s a new character joining Season 3 as well, with Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje playing the role of Commander Ogunwe, leader of Asriel’s military forces. Even better, Lin-Manuel Miranda has been announced to reprise his role as Lee Scoresby despite a devastating end for the character in last season’s finale.
